More Thoughts
By 747 Crewmember on Thursday, May 23rd 2013 17:39Z
Got a call today from my buddy Henry who is Captain on the 767 in Asia, his friend Jeremy Lipka was on that flight as a Check Captain, don't know what seat, but he was there so they had some talent. Henry said that he and others think vehicles may have come loose on the landing, they use a circling downward spiral to get in there to avoid small arms on a long final and have to land HOT. He thinks one or some vehicles could have come loose under heavy braking and then on takeoff shifted back and caused the rear CG shift. I had not considered this and it makes perfect sense. I have personally seen loadmasters not even get up on a tech stop (fuel) and this may be the case here that no one walked through the cargo hold and checked things.
