(To be honest, I'm not sure about crocodiles as well - are they animals or not? What is the definition of "animal" in English? Is bird animal? Fish? Worm? Ant? Mosquito? Anyway - you better have a couple of TNT or dynamite sticks and throw them into the river before you cross it).

Poor Amelia... One of the best world aviators of the 1930-th. Second trans-atlantic solo flight in the world (and the first woman's trans-atlantic solo), first solo flight from US West Coast to Hawaii, first non-stop flight from Mexico to New York, a couple of world records and international air races. Almost completed her world-around flight when missed (about 80% of the route was behind the tail by that point). A life-long dream of Valery Chkalov (to fly around the world) - but he didn't even get a chance to start a preparation, just dreamed. Amelia tried and died trying.
There is a couple of versions of her missing. According to one of them, she and her co-pilot has been saved and captured by Japanese Army or Navy. Some people saw white man and woman arrived to Japanese prison on Saipan island approximately at that time. According to rumors, both stayed at the prison for a couple of years and has been executed when Battle of Okinawa began. It's hard to get any further evidences now, after the Pacific War - most of witnesses died, and there is a lot of unrecognized plane wrecks and human bones in the area now.

Never' ve heard about Japanese version. Interesting.

I would not be so enthusiastic. Based on thousand of years of human race history (and especially last 100 years), a new theory, technology or innovation always being implemented as a weapon first (in some cases - a weapon of mass destruction), then goes to the civilian market. Bronze, iron, steel, alloys, gunpowder, steamers, cars, aircraft, submarines, spaceships, satellites, you name it... Yes, A-bomb and H-bomb too.
So I would expect a "bozon bomb" rather than cheap and clean power plant in each and every basement or car. People are very strange and irresponsible animals : (

Латинские выражения очень люблю. Коротко, но ёмко. Римское право, афоризмы и акведуки- самое ценное из наследства древних римлян. А, ну дороги ещё.

А вот это спорно. Календарь, скорее всего, пришёл от шумеров и вавилонян через греков и этрусков, названия планет -видоизменённые греческие, христианство из Иудеи (только как гос.религия -это да, Константин постарался). И что имеем на выходе? Только футбольную команду "Спартак"!))

1. Загадка: кем введен юлианский календарь (к слову, используется РПЦ по настоящее время)? Подсказка: этого человека звали Юлий (точнее, Гай Юлий), и знаменит он не только этим :)
2. Планеты. Так все-таки Меркурий - Венера - Марс - Юпитер - Сатурн - Нептун - Плутон или Гермес - Афродита - Арес - Зевс - Хронос - Посейдон - Аид? Причем во всех языках, что характерно. Исключение - Уран, да и то потому, что в римской мифологии нет аналога.
3. А это ничего, что Иудея и Галилея - на тот момент римские провинции? А Понтий Пилат - прокуратор Иудеи (на наши деньги - губернатор Чукотки, назначенный из Кремля :)
Но мы действительно злоупотребляем терпением милой Милы. А посему - Roger, out (в смысле - все понял, конец связи).
