From my own experience the most difficulties in communication with foreign ATC-s are related to their strong local particularities of pronunciation. A kind of tarabarian dialect. Not a grammar or non standard phraseology. When station speaks relatively authentic English it almost doesn't matter which particular phrases it uses (though they are standard as a rule). Everything is quite clear anyway. If not, you can always clarify it communicating.

MSL,I fully agree, 'cause I've heard it so many times from other pilots. But have you flown to the USA, or maybe listened to live ATC comm-s in US airports? What's your opinion on that one? their pronunciaton may be perfect but..

No, I haven't. But I think there are not so many pilots in Russia that fly to the US to take it as a world scale problem. Nevertheless I've listened their (US) communication via atc-net. And my opinion, although it's quite specific it's not a big deal to get used to it.

Hi everyone.
I wonder if any of you read books in English. I have red a handful of them, such as the whole series of The Eagle by Simon Scarrow comprised of 10 books in total (11-th is underway), Haruki Murakami, Raymond Khoury. I'm about to finish the last book and looking for something else to read, but haven't decided yet which one, or better say in what style. I prefer military fiction about Rome empire, but it will take months before the latest book of Simon Scarrow is available for sale.
What is your opinion?

Well, thank you for your answer, I see I'm not alone.
So, I've never bought anything on Amazon, cause, as far as I know, the shipping is somehow complicated there and there are various kind of goods, which are prohibited to be sent to our country, one of them is Amazon Kindle (a book reader, with free internet), that's why I prefer Ebay. I have bought almost all books I possess via that site, mostly from Canada.
In fact, there are lot of books, dedicated to Roman empire and especially its military campaign, but it's hard to choose the best and I don't want to waste my money. Perhaps someone has had an experience in reading the books I'm interested in and may give me a piece of advice.

I buy a lot of books from amazon as well and before buying I try to read the reviews, posted by other readers in the section Customer reviews, which is sometimes very helpful ;-))).

Cato is a name of the main character of Simon Scarrow's Eagle series.
In my opinion one shouldn't rely on anyone's review blindly as everyone varies with their point of views. Some might find Eagle series borring and far away from history, some might find it to be the best book, which has ever been written about Roman empire.
I have read Haruki Murakami book "Kafka on the shore" and I liked it, moreover this was the first book in English I had read by that time. It was easy to read that book and found the least unknown words there, which was good. Than I read Raymond Khoury's three books, the 4-th one I haven't finished so far, but close to its end, one of those book was The last templar, meanwhile the film "The last templar" same has got least coincidences with the book.

Customer reviews can not be that 100% resourceful. They are more likely to be a kind of a guidance. However, there are also book or author fans' clubs...I am sure you can easily find them on the net and than just look for a version in English....
